Bridal cars are a staple for weddings that really want to make any marriage a momentous occasion. However, it is not enough to just have a massive budget and rent out the fanciest limo for the big day. Doing so is the first step to making the decision needlessly expensive. Or worse, it could easily become the most disappointing moment of the entire event.
The best way to avoid this mistake is to really plan out the car’s role. Is it just going to take the bride to and from the church? Will the groom be driving? Is it going to feature in the wedding video at the reception?
To answer these questions, here are some tips.
1. Think of the passenger.
The bride is going to be stepping in and out of the car, entirely in her wedding dress, at several points of the day. Given how delicate the dress is and how carefully she must move around, the car should be picked with all these in mind. That means the inside should be as clean and fresh as it looks on the outside. Even things like seatbelts and armrests should not pose additional difficulty when the bride disembarks.
2. Note every car’s color.
Rental services could easily give a nice, extensive list of recommended models for wedding days. What they sometimes miss is the role of the car’s color.
Going for white is generally the safest bet, but you never know if your wedding planner could have better ideas. And no matter how resourceful a rental service may be, they may not have a model with a specific color in mind.
3. Plan for the designated driver.
The question of having the groom drive instead of a chauffeur is a lot trickier than it looks. Having the groom at the wheel may make him appear very hands-on and dependable (while also making the rental more affordable).
However, what will it mean for the ceremony? Will it call for the groom to already be at the altar? If you are going for the tradition of the bride’s father driving, then is he familiar with the vehicle they are renting? In any case, never underestimate the amount of planning this decision actually needs!
4. Measure time before reception.
Getting a bridal car for rent means getting the most bang for your buck. That means carefully weighing its cost as it is being used before the reception. Fortunately, some services do offer 4-hour and 8-hour packages that can easily fit within a lot of wedding plans.
Of course, that still means you have to be stringent with the time if the plan calls for photographs before the reception. Consider featuring the car in a lot of the pictures, both to make the occasion more memorable and also getting the most value out of every hour!
Granted, many of the savviest wedding planners in the city may have bridal car rentals already in their packages. That does not mean you should hesitate learning more about the value you are getting from the services they pick, and the vehicles they choose.
